Dear Pre-Paid Legal, Friday, I got pulled over by a Winnebago County Police Officer on Highway 44 from Oshkosh to Ripon College. He told me I went 67 in the 55 miles per hour speed limit, but I actually went 62 in the 55, with [the] other cars. He asked for my license, and I gave it to him with my Legal Shield. He took my license but not my Legal Shield. He then added that I drove like a drunk driver, and he smelled alcohol in my car. He told me to step out of the car and he [wanted me] to take an alcohol test and search my car. I walked out of the car like the officer asked me to. |

He started to ask me questions. I called the Legal Shield hotline and got a hold of [an] attorney…in Wisconsin. I told my attorney what was going on, and he told me that I should not let the officer search my car, but I would have to do the alcohol test. I asked the officer to talk to my attorney, but he refused to. The officer hesitated, then added that he was not going to ask me any further questions. He was not going to search my car or do the alcohol test. He sent me back to my car and said that this time he would give a warning. The officer wrote me a warning.
